Job Description


This role operates light-duty bench and floor-type machine tools and equipment to support electronics production in a high-quality manufacturing environment. You will set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on surface mount technology (SMT) and related machines while following detailed manufacturing instructions, documentation, and quality standards.


Responsibilities


+ Set up all SMT and related production machines accurately according to setup instructions and manufacturing documentation.

+ Operate all assigned machines correctly, efficiently, and within established quality standards.

+ Prepare machines for production runs, including loading materials, verifying settings, and confirming readiness.

+ Read, understand, and apply supporting documentation such as manufacturing process instructions (MPIs), deviations, bills of material, and drawings.

+ Perform accurate data entry related to production activities, machine performance, and product tracking.

+ Use and follow the Aegis process for production control and documentation, as required.

+ Follow proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures at all times when handling electronic components and assemblies.

+ Perform change-over and tear-down processes when switching between products or production runs.

+ Carry out routine maintenance on all machines to ensure reliable and consistent operation.

+ Maintain products and communication logs to document production status, issues, and handoffs between shifts or team members.

+ Perform machine operator duties as needed across all areas of production, supporting different functions and cells.

+ Apply 5S principles to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.

+ Perform soldering and electronics assembly tasks, including work under a microscope when required.

+ Handle moisture-sensitive and other sensitive electronic components properly to prevent damage.

+ Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve issues and maintain smooth production flow.

+ Carry out all other duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement activities.


Essential Skills


+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Minimum of six months of related experience and/or training in machine operation, electronics manufacturing, or a similar environment.

+ Hands-on experience with SMT operations, soldering, electronics assembly, and working with printed circuit boards (PCBs).

+ Ability to read and interpret documentation such as manufacturing instructions, bills of material, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

+ Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling requirements.

+ Ability to correctly identify electronic components and understand component codes.

+ Skill in proper handling of electronic components and assemblies, including moisture-sensitive components.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

+ Strong hand dexterity for fine assembly and soldering work, including under a microscope when needed.

+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common measurements.

+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as a team member.

+ Strong communication skills to interact clearly and professionally with colleagues across departments.

+ Good computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

+ Flexibility and willingness to adjust priorities and tasks as production needs change.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience operating light-duty bench and floor-type machine tools in an electronics manufacturing environment.

+ Familiarity with the Aegis process or similar manufacturing execution systems for production tracking and documentation.

+ Working knowledge of 5S methodologies and continuous improvement practices in a production setting.

+ Experience maintaining communication logs and production records to support shift handoffs and traceability.

+ Comfort working in a production cell assembly environment with multiple machines and tasks.

+ Ability to interact effectively with various departments and groups to support coordinated production efforts.

Work Environment


The role is based in a production cell assembly environment focused on electronics and SMT manufacturing. You will work around SMT machines, light-duty bench and floor-type tools, and microscopes for detailed assembly and inspection. The work involves handling electronic and moisture-sensitive components while following strict ESD procedures and 5S standards to maintain a clean and organized workspace. You will use computer systems for data entry and production tracking, including MS Office tools and the Aegis process. The environment is collaborative and production-driven, with shifting priorities based on demand and the need to support different areas of the manufacturing floor.

This is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
