Job Description

Overview

At Microsoft, we are building a modern, AI-forward marketing organization that learns faster, activates smarter, and creates work that earns attention. The Commercial Creative and Production team develops advertising and social content that brings Microsofts brand, products, and stories to life across platforms, formats, and audiences.

The Social Creative Producer is an individual contributor who owns the production process for integrated advertising content and social-first creative. You will take assignments from brief through delivery, connecting creative ambition to clear scopes, schedules, budgets, partners, approvals, and production plans.

You will work comfortably as part of our in-house agency as a leader, collaborating with creative directors, in house creator teams, strategists, marketers, social leads, procurement, legal partners, external agencies, production companies, and post-production vendors. You know how strong creative is made and know who to bring to the table to get it done. You protect the idea while managing the practical details required to deliver it.

The role requires familiarity with line production and the full content-production lifecycle, including bidding, estimates, treatments, pre-production, crew and vendor coordination, shoot logistics, post-production, rights and clearances, versioning, and final delivery. You do not need to serve as the line producer on every assignment, but you understand the work well enough to evaluate plans, identify risks, and partner effectively with specialists.

Key outcomes include high-quality advertising and social content delivered on brief, on time, and within approved budget; production plans that match the creative opportunity and channel needs; clear communication and documentation; responsible management of partners and resources; and reusable production practices that help the team move faster without lowering the craft bar.

At Microsoft, our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more guides how we partner with customers and one another. With a growth-mindset culture, we innovate responsibly, collaborate with care, and measure success through shared progress across people, teams, and customers.

Responsibilities

Integrated advertising and social production

  • Own assigned advertising and social projects from brief through final delivery, creating a clear production approach for each channel, format, audience, and market.

  • Translate creative concepts into executable scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and production pathways while preserving the core idea.

  • Anticipate dependencies and production risks early, present options and trade-offs, and keep partners aligned through timely decisions and communication.

Project planning and delivery

  • Build and maintain project plans that cover milestones, owners, approvals, reviews, deliverables, versioning, and launch dates.

  • Coordinate internal teams, agencies, production companies, freelance talent, and post-production partners to keep work moving and responsibilities clear.

  • Manage multiple concurrent assignments with sound judgment, adjusting plans as priorities, creative direction, platform needs, or production conditions change.

Social-first content production

  • Apply a working understanding of major social platforms, placements, aspect ratios, content behaviors, and publishing requirements to production planning.

  • Plan efficiently for modular content, cutdowns, adaptations, creator or influencer components, rapid-response opportunities, and channel-specific versions.

  • Use AI-enabled tools and automation responsibly to improve planning, documentation, versioning, and production workflow without compromising quality, security, or brand standards.

Production and on-set execution

  • Partner with line producers and production companies on bids, estimates, treatments, schedules, staffing, locations, equipment, logistics, and production-day requirements.

  • Review production plans for feasibility, appropriate resourcing, contingency coverage, and alignment with the approved creative, scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Support pre-production meetings, shoot preparation, production execution, and post-production handoff, escalating material issues with clear recommendations.

  • Maintain delivery specifications and organized handoffs so final assets, project files, documentation, and approved source materials are complete and reusable.

Budget, vendors, and business affairs

  • Develop and manage project budgets, estimates, purchase orders, statements of work, change orders, invoices, and reconciliations in partnership with finance and procurement.

  • Evaluate agency and vendor proposals for production value, completeness, schedule, cost, and risk, and support negotiations with appropriate partners.

  • Track budget status and scope changes throughout the project, maintaining accurate records and communicating variance before it becomes a delivery issue.

Quality, rights, and compliance

  • Build brand, legal, accessibility, privacy, localization, and platform reviews into the production schedule rather than treating them as final-stage checks.

  • Coordinate with business-affairs and legal partners on talent, music, intellectual property, releases, clearances, usage terms, and expiration requirements.

Collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Provide concise, accurate status reporting on scope, schedule, budget, risks, decisions, and delivery across the projects you own.

  • Capture production learnings and use them to improve future estimates, partner selection, workflows, templates, and delivery standards.

Production craft and team contribution

  • Bring strong production judgment, curiosity, accountability, and calm problem-solving to creative work that may move quickly or change direction.

  • Contribute practical guidance, templates, partner recommendations, and production knowledge that strengthen the broader producer community.

  • Build trusted relationships across creative, marketing, social, operations, finance, procurement, business affairs, legal, agencies, and production partners.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 1+ year(s) integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in advertising production, social-first content production, integrated production, post-production / video edit, related experience OR equivalent experience.

  • Production experience within an advertising agency, creative agency, production company, in-house brand or studio, or a combination of these environments.

  • Demonstrated ownership of creative projects from brief and scoping through production, post-production, approvals, versioning, and final delivery.

  • Familiarity with line-production practices, including production bidding, estimates, schedules, crew and vendor planning, locations, shoot logistics, insurance, permits, and wrap.

  • Experience producing content for major social platforms and managing multiple formats, cutdowns, aspect ratios, and deliverable specifications.

  • Experience managing project budgets, purchase orders, statements of work, change orders, invoices, and cost reconciliations.

  • Working knowledge of talent, music, intellectual-property, usage-rights, release, and clearance considerations in an advertising production context.

  • Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present production plans, risks, options, and trade-offs clearly.

  • Experience collaborating with creative directors, designers, writers, strategists, marketers, social teams, agencies, production companies, and post-production partners.

  • Experience using work-management, review-and-approval, digital-asset-management, or AI-enabled production tools to improve workflow and delivery.
