    POSITION: Social Emotional Learning and Academic - Engagement (K-8) Coordinator REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Academic Advisement and Social- Emotional Learning

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION: 1) Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Sociology or a related field. 2) Master's degree preferred

    The position is grant funded with at least 2-year engagement expected

    QUALIFICATIONS: Experience:

    • 3 + years of experience working with diverse families, youth, or community-based organizations. Skills:
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrates experience with data collection, tracking, and reporting.
    • Knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning frameworks.
    • Ability to work independently and manage flexible schedules, including evening or off -site visits.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple student cases simultaneously. Other:
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for community outreach and home visits.

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Social-Emotional Learning and Academic Engagement serves as a bridge between students, families, school staff, and external partners to ensure that every child is academically successful, socially connected, emotionally supported, and engaged in learning. This role leads SEL initiatives, coordinates family support resources, promotes family engagement, and collaborates with educators to implement strategies that improve a student's achievement and well -being. This position supports K-5 grade levels and is school-based at an assigned District building. The incumbent reports administratively to the building principal and programmatically to the Executive Director of Academic Advisement and Social-Emotional Learning. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon available funding and authorized for the duration of the applicable grant(s). The incumbent must maintain a routine log of daily work activities to support grant compliance, documentation, and alignment with the approved grant scope, District expectations, and program requirements. Responsibilities shall be aligned with the District's Multi -Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and informed by data-driven decision-making.

    • Provide SEL coaching and resources for teachers.
    • Monitor school climate data and student wellness indicators.
    • Lead activities that strengthen students' sense of belonging and connection
    • Partner with families to collaboratively create and monitor attendance improvement plans.
    • Academic Engagement & Achievement:
    • Develop systems that increase student attendance and engagement.
    • Coordinate academic intervention supports for students identified as at-risk.
    • Partner with teachers to identify students needing additional academic or behavioral support.
    • Facilitate enrichment opportunities that connect learning to student interests.
    • Participate and support implementation of MTSS interventions.
    • Monitor academic progress and engagement data. School-Wide Leadership:
    • Coordinate partnerships with community organizations that provide academic, health, mental health, and family support services.
    • Facilitate needs assessments to identify barriers impacting student success.
    • Connect families to resources including housing assistance, food security programs, healthcare, counseling services, and after-school opportunities.
    • Coordinate family workshops focused on supporting learning at home. OTHER DUTIES: K-5 Academic Achievement Strategies-Early Literacy Support:
    • Organize family literacy nights.
    • Develop home reading initiatives.
    • Coordinate volunteer reading mentors.
    • Provide families with literacy resources and take-home learning kits.
    • Promote daily independent reading goals. Attendance Improvement:
    • Create attendance awareness campaigns.
    • Conduct family outreach for chronically absent students.
    • Celebrate attendance growth.
    • Remove barriers to attendance through community partnerships Student Goal Setting:
    • Teach students to set academic and personal goals.
    • Facilitate student reflection conferences.
    • Support student data notebooks and progress tracking. Family Academic Engagement:
    • Host curriculum nights.
    • Provide parent workshops on literacy and math strategies.
    • Create family learning challenges.
    • Share academic resources through newsletters and digital platforms. Student Voice and Leadership:
    • Establish student leadership groups.
    • Create classroom jobs and service-learning projects.
    • Include student voice in school improvement efforts. Family Academic Engagement:
    • Pair students with staff mentors.
    • Develop check-in/check-out systems.
    • Provide targeted support for students demonstrating academic or engagement concerns. SEL and Academic Integration - Self Awareness:
