Job Summary
The Social Media & Content Student Assistant at the Oberlin College Office of Career Exploration and Development (CED) is responsible for managing and growing the office's social media presence through strategic content creation and daily engagement. This role focuses on developing and executing social media plans, creating and editing video content (including reels), and promoting CED programs, events, and resources to students.
This student will serve as a CED ambassador by sharing student stories, covering events, and proactively developing campaigns that increase awareness and engagement across campus.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Develop and manage a weekly social media content calendar
- Create and post daily content across platforms (Instagram, etc.)
- Film, edit, and produce short-form video content (reels, stories)
- Cover events and create real-time and post-event content
- Share student stories, testimonials, and experiences
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to messages/comments
- Develop creative campaigns to promote CED programs and events
- Stay up to date with social media trends and propose new ideas
- Maintain a consistent and authentic student voice across platforms
Expectations:
- Participate in training at the beginning of the semester
- Attend regular meetings with the supervisor
- Work collaboratively with the CED team
- Adhere to college branding and accessibility standards
- Uphold a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Work up to 5 -10 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Qualifications
- Experience creating content for social media platforms (especially Instagram)
- Basic video editing skills (CapCut, Canva, Adobe, or similar tools)
- Strong creativity and storytelling ability
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in marketing, communications, or digital media
