Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, digitally fluent Social Media Coordinator to support the organization’s growing social and digital communications program. PORAC social and digital channels reach tens of thousands of law enforcement professionals and decision-makers across California and beyond. Our social and digital platforms shape how officers stay informed, how policies are understood, and how real stories get told.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and fluent in how social actually works. You know every platform has its own vibe, captions matter, visuals stop the scroll, and consistency builds credibility. You’re comfortable writing, scheduling, engaging and creating simple visual content when needed. You will take on scheduling content across platforms, writing clear and compelling captions, engaging with followers, tracking performance metrics, and helping grow PORAC’s digital reach, influence, and credibility. This is not a “post and forget” role — it’s about building our audience, advancing objectives and turning content into connection.

Core Responsibilities

Content & Platform Management

\n

• Schedule and publish content across PORAC’s social platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms as appropriate)
• \n
• Maintain content calendars and coordinate with production and communications teams
• \n
• Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and brand standards
• \n
• Coordinate with the video/production team to ensure content is packaged and deployed effectively
• \n
• Assist with rapid response posting during high-priority moments
• \n

Copywriting & Content Creation

• \n
• Write platform-appropriate captions and short-form copy
• \n
• Translate complex policy, legislative, and organizational updates into clear, accessible social content
• \n
• Adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms
• \n
• Design simple, visually compelling social posts
• \n

Community Engagement

\n

• \n
• Monitor comments, messages, and mentions
• \n
• Engage with followers in a professional, respectful, and mission-aligned manner
• \n
• Flag trends, issues, or emerging narratives for the communications team
• \n

Analytics & Growth

\n

• \n
• Track performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth, clicks, video views)
• \n
• Support reporting and optimization efforts
• \n
• Identify opportunities to grow audience, engagement, and visibility organically
• \n

What You Bring

\n

• \n
• 1–3 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or content strategy
• \n
• Strong copywriting skills and messaging instincts
• \n
• Experience using scheduling and analytics platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout, Meta Business Suite, native analytics)
• \n
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• \n
• Professional judgment and discretion
• \n
• Familiarity with platform trends and emerging social tools
• \n
• Basic graphic design skills (Adobe, Canva or equivalent)

Pay Range: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
