Proper Hospitality is an independent hospitality company operating a growing portfolio of design-forward properties under the Proper Hotels, By Proper, and The Collective brands. We are not a large hotel chain. We build brands with texture rooted in place, culture, food and beverage, wellness, and community. Our creative output is a direct expression of that conviction.

Position Overview

The Social Media Manager owns day-to-day social strategy and execution across Proper and By Proper. You run the content calendar, publish and manage community across both brand voices, build the creator and influencer pipeline, and coordinate the shoots that feed the content engine. You work in close partnership with Creative and Design on asset production, with Marketing on campaign alignment, and with property teams to source content and moments on the ground.

This role sits at corporate and supports both brands from a central seat. Getting the two voices right, and knowing when a piece of content is a Proper story versus a By Proper story, is core to the job.

What You Own

Content Planning & Calendar

  • Build and manage content calendars across Proper and By Proper, each with its own voice and cadence
  • Align content with brand campaigns, property programming, seasonal moments, and business priorities
  • Partner with property teams to source and plan content around events and activations
  • Maintain consistent posting cadence and platform optimization across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels

Content Creation & Editing

  • Edit short-form video (Reels, TikTok) and produce social-first assets
  • Develop carousels and light content as needed
  • Brief and collaborate with Creative and Design on asset production
  • Hold all content to brand standard on tone, aesthetic, and quality, per brand

Publishing & Platform Management

  • Own day-to-day posting and scheduling across all Proper and By Proper accounts
  • Write captions in the correct brand voice, optimized for engagement
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across every post

Community Management

  • Manage inbound comments and DMs in a timely, brand-appropriate manner, per brand
  • Grow and sustain community engagement across platforms

Influencer & Creator Partnerships

  • Identify, vet, and manage creator relationships aligned to each brand
  • Own outreach, negotiation, and coordination for stays and partnerships
  • Build and maintain a creator pipeline across LA and relevant feeder markets
  • Track influencer performance and report on ROI and brand impact
  • Partner with PR and Marketing to align influencer work with broader campaigns

Shoot Production & Coordination

  • Plan and execute content shoots across properties as needed
  • Build shot lists with Creative and Marketing
  • Coordinate logistics: schedules, talent, locations, on-property teams
  • Manage timelines and deliverable tracking to keep shoots on schedule
  • Track incoming content and usage rights
  • Manage the DAM: tagging, organizing, and distributing assets
  • Supply assets and links to cross-functional marketing and paid media teams

Performance Tracking & Optimization

  • Monitor monthly content and account performance, per brand
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve performance
  • Support reporting with insights and recommendations

What This Role Is Not

This is a hands-on execution role, not a strategy-only seat. You are close to the calendar, the caption, and the DM inbox every day. It is also not a paid media role: performance and growth marketing sit with a separate function, and this roles job is to keep organic and paid aligned, not to run paid spend.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years managing social accounts for a consumer, lifestyle, or hospitality brand
  • Demonstrated experience running multiple brand voices or multiple account sets at once
  • Strong short-form video editing skills (Reels, TikTok)
  • Experience managing an influencer or creator pipeline end to end, including negotiation and ROI reporting
  • Comfort running shoot logistics: scheduling, talent coordination, on-site production
  • Clear, brand-appropriate writing across distinct tones
  • Organized and deadline-driven; comfortable owning a calendar across two brands
  • Energized by a fast-moving, lean, entrepreneurial environment

What Success Looks Like at 12 Months

  • Proper and By Proper each have a documented, distinct content cadence and voice in active use
  • Influencer and creator pipeline is active in LA and relevant feeder markets with tracked ROI reporting
  • Shoot production runs on a repeatable process: shot lists, timelines, and DAM organization are consistent
  • Community response times and engagement quality meet brand standard across both accounts
  • Monthly performance reporting is running and surfacing actionable recommendations
