The City of Sandy Springs is looking for a creative, strategic, and data-driven Social Media Specialist to help shape how nearly 110,000 residents experience their local government online. From City Council initiatives and community events to emergency communications and behind-the-scenes storytelling, you'll create content that informs, inspires, and connects people with their city.

What You'll Do
As our Social Media Specialist, you'll help manage and grow the City's digital presence by creating compelling content and engaging with our community across multiple platforms.
In this role, you'll:
- Develop engaging photo, video, graphic, and written content for the City's social media channels.
- Create and maintain content calendars that keep our messaging organized, timely, and impactful.
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, mentions, and community engagement.
- Analyze social media performance and recommend strategies to increase reach, engagement, and public awareness.
- Research emerging social media trends, digital tools, and best practices to keep the City's communications innovative.
- Collaborate with departments across the City to promote programs, services, projects, and community events.
- Coordinate photography and videography assignments while identifying opportunities for compelling visual storytelling.
- Support public information efforts during high-profile events, City initiatives, and emergency communications.
- Utilize SEO principles, keyword research, and web analytics to improve digital visibility.
- Help strengthen community trust through transparent, engaging, and informative communications.
What We're Looking For
You thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You're creative, organized, collaborative, and comfortable balancing strategy with execution.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of professional social media management experience.
- Experience creating engaging content across multiple social media platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and social media management platforms such as Hootsuite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using social media analytics and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with local government communications or public sector organizations.
- Knowledge of Google Analytics, SEO, and digital marketing best practices.
