    Council on Aging

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Transportation

    • Adhere to driving policies as determined by the Director
    • Keep a daily sheet of people served which MUST be turned in weekly.
    • Assist passengers in getting on/off vans by opening the doors and offering physical assistance to any passenger in need.
    • Assist shopping trip passengers by carrying bundles in homes and making sure, especially in winter that they are safely inside.
    • Utilize wheelchair lift to transport handicapped passengers.
    • Operate mobile communications system
    • Deliver monthly newsletters to assigned locations in a timely manner.
    • Assist fellow van drivers as needed.
    • Participate in all required training throughout the year.

    Outreach

    • Provide outreach in the form of: Delivery of Library books, pick up/drop off medical equipment, food shopping for shut-ins and referrals as needed from Police/Fire Department as per requests from the DIRECTOR.

    Van Maintenance

    • Maintain accurate records on all repairs to van.
    • Keep a routine check on the van (including but not limited to tires, gas, oil, coolants, and brakes)
    • Perform preventative maintenance
    • Report deficiencies/problems with vehicles to supervisor as soon as possible.
    • Assist transportation and referral line as needed.
    • Maintain van cleanliness and lock and secure van at end of day

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.

    • Must have a valid drivers license
    • Must be a high school graduate
    • Must have 5 years experience working with the elderly or Associates Degree.
    • College degree in related field a plus.
    • Must have good organizational skills
    • Must be able to relate well to others and work as a team player.
    • Driver and sensitivity training- a plus
    • Must be able to handle wheelchair clients

    Salary

    Start: $50,846 - Step 25: $64,512
