Social Services Worker (8259)

Schedule/Hours: Part time - 29 hours per weekly (Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

This position is responsible for:

Provides social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides direct client services, including screening eligibility, conducting intake interviews, assisting with applications, and coordinating food, clothing, furniture, rent, utility, and emergency assistance.
• Manages food pantry operations, including distributing food, receiving and stocking donations, maintaining inventory records, processing daily bread donations, and ensuring the pantry and waiting areas remain clean and organized.
• Maintains client records and reporting, including preparing and filing case documentation, tracking services provided, entering data into HMIS, maintaining Excel reports, compiling monthly statistics, and safeguarding client confidentiality.
• Supports community outreach and client assistance, including answering inquiries, providing referrals, coordinating with partner agencies, assisting the public, and transporting donated food and produce as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Demonstrates reliable attendance; effective English reading, writing, communication, and basic math skills.
• Proficient in data entry, recordkeeping, filing, and the use of standard office equipment and computer systems.
• Able to perform light physical duties, including standing, walking, lifting, and carrying items up to 25 pounds as needed.
• Works effectively in an office environment and supports The Salvation Army's mission and values in all aspects of the role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or G.E.D.,

and

Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public,

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid FL drivers license
