Under the general supervision of the School Director, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Compensation: Base Salary-Certified-$73,500, (Adv. Degrees $3,000 for masters, $5,000 for doctorate). $200/ year for applicable experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters perfered) Valid New York Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters. Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Knowledge of Smartboard functions and tools. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, faculty etc. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school director finds appropriate and acceptable.
