Position is responsible for instructing secondary school students in social studies and creating a safe and orderly learning environment. Candidates must:
- Have knowledge of current Massachusetts Frameworks expectations for Reading and Writing across the curriculum.
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson and assessment design as well as achieving departmental goals.
- Utilize best practices for assessing student progress toward achievement of standard.
- Develop lessons with clear and measurable outcomes.
- Use of a wide variety of teaching techniques to support student learning.
- Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students.
- Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and to modify further instruction.
- Use technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom.
- Participate actively in faculty, department and team meetings.
- Set professional development goals, develop professional development plans, and participate in professional development activities that improve teaching practice
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Enforce all school policies and rules governing students.
