Position is responsible for instructing secondary school students in social studies and creating a safe and orderly learning environment. Candidates must:

  • Have knowledge of current Massachusetts Frameworks expectations for Reading and Writing across the curriculum.
  • Effectively collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson and assessment design as well as achieving departmental goals.
  • Utilize best practices for assessing student progress toward achievement of standard.
  • Develop lessons with clear and measurable outcomes.
  • Use of a wide variety of teaching techniques to support student learning.
  • Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
  • Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students.
  • Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and to modify further instruction.
  • Use technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom.
  • Participate actively in faculty, department and team meetings.
  • Set professional development goals, develop professional development plans, and participate in professional development activities that improve teaching practice
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Enforce all school policies and rules governing students.
