Responsibilities will include:

  • Teach high school social studies courses in alignment with district curriculum and Connecticut standards
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons that promote historical thinking, civic engagement, inquiry, analysis, and effective communication skills
  • Utilize primary and secondary sources, discussion, writing, and project-based learning to deepen student understanding of historical and contemporary issues
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that values diverse perspectives and civil discourse

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Connecticut Certification: 026 History and Social Studies (Grades 712) required or NY equivalent to work toward certification reciprocity.

  • Strong knowledge of secondary social studies curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
  • Knowledge of civics, history, geography, economics, and inquiry-based instructional practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and student-centered learning environment
