Overview
This is a provisional appointment.
This position will be assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit.
Responsibilities
The Social Worker's duties and responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining familiarity with existing domestic violence and human service delivery systems in Boston.
Providing crisis intervention for domestic violence victims and their families.
Performing assessments and evaluations of victims'' needs and follow-up including assistance with referrals for appropriate services such as shelter, mental health counseling, peer support groups, emergency financial assistance, protection, and relocation.
Performing related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Applicants must have at least two to five (2-5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in advocating for victims of domestic violence, working with victims, diverse populations, and social issues affecting victims and their families.
Applicants must possess strong skills and demonstrated ability in crisis management and problem solving.
It is strongly preferred that applicants possess a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual.
