The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District is currently accepting applications for a School Social Worker with a passion for engaging with children, families, school staff and community resources to promote the success of students.

Direct Services:

  • Provide direct crisis intervention for students and consultation for school crisis interventions teams
  • Work with parents and students to facilitate the removal of barriers to learning
  • Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community programs and supports.
  • Conduct small group or individual counseling sessions
  • Support families in homeless situations with appropriate community and school resources
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and students to resolve concerns in the areas of attendance and truancy

Indirect Services:

  • Obtain and coordinate community resources
  • Collaborate with school staff to provide programming options for students
  • Coordinate systems of support for students within the school system
  • Act as a liaison between the home, school system and community agencies
  • Provide information, consultation and training to staff in areas of child abuse/ neglect, homelessness, mental illness, suicide prevention

Qualifications:

  • Master''s Degree in Social Work
  • DPI School Social Worker Licensure
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Mental Health Framework
  • Knowledge of Trauma Sensitive school-based strategies and Social Emotional Learning supports and programming
  • Knowledge of common academic assessments, as well as universal screening and progress monitoring for students
  • Knowledge of common barriers to learning within the students or their environments
  • Working knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions (PBIS) and Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

Beginning of Year Schedule:

August 17-20: New Teacher Orientation

August 25-27: District & Building Inservice

August 31: First Day of School
