Job Title: Adolescent Mental Health Clinician / Therapist (IDT Program)

Position Summary
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented Adolescent Mental Health Clinician professional to join their team. This role focuses on providing clinical treatment and comprehensive case coordination within the adolescent Intense Day Treatment (IDT) program. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering direct therapy, managing a specialized caseload, and facilitating seamless transition planning for youth.

This is a fast-paced role requiring high reliability, punctuality, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Caseload Management: Maintain a dedicated caseload of 8 children in the adolescent IDT program, spanning across the 6th to 12th grades.

  • Admissions Intake: Actively participate in the IDT admissions process in coordination with the child, family, Medical Director (MD), and designated school liaison.

  • Direct Therapy Delivery: Provide high-quality Weekly Individual Therapy, Daily Group Therapy, and specialized Family Therapy or Crisis Intervention as needed.

  • Transition Planning: Facilitate thorough Transition Meetings for each student on the caseload, ensuring the collaboration of the student, family, IDT teacher, school liaison, and home district professionals.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Function cohesively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and participate in mandatory weekly Treatment Team meetings.

  • Community Advocacy: Connect and advocate for youth and families to secure supportive, community-based linkages tailored to their unique needs.

  • Systems Liaison: Maintain close, collateral involvement with participating schools and external agencies; collaborate with school liaisons throughout Orange County to streamline the referral and screening process.

  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain timely, accurate medical record documentation and facilitate comprehensive discharge planning and follow-up activities.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Education & Licensure: Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field, with an active New York State professional license (such as LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent).

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents, or families within a behavioral health, day treatment, or school-based environment.

  • Technical Skills: Meticulous knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) databases and proficiency with standard professional documentation systems.

  • Communication: Exceptional interdisciplinary communication and case management skills; ability to collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners.
