Job Description:

POSITION: School Social Worker

SCHOOL: Districtwide

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students
  • Support students through therapeutic interventions, daily check-ins, crisis response, and social-emotional skill development
  • Develop and implement individualized student support plans focused on attendance, engagement, self-regulation, coping skills, and successful school participation
  • Collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators, outside providers, and community agencies to coordinate services and support student success
  • Support students experiencing school avoidance and social-emotional challenges
  • Maintain accurate case documentation, progress notes, and records in accordance with district expectations, ethical standards, and state/federal regulations
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic learning environment that fosters student resilience, belonging, and long-term success

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Connecticut Certification: School Social Worker (071) required;

  • Experience working with adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, school avoidance, behavioral challenges, and social-emotional needs preferred
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, restorative practices, and therapeutic counseling approaches
  • Strong understanding of special education processes, student support systems, and school-based mental health services
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered, and strengths-based educational environment

SALARY: Per NFEA Contract
