Basic Function
Directly responsible for all case management tasks and the provision of individual or group counseling to assigned students whose Individual Education Plan calls for such services. Maintains the overall goal of providing for each student a program reflecting educational excellence and equality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides counseling servicesas prescribed bythe IndividualEducationPlan IEP.
Acts as a consultant to the education staff in all areas related to mental health.
Serves asliaisonwith all community providersappropriate tothe case including the LEA and any other human service organizations which may presently orin the near futurebe involved with the child and family.
Assesses options for thestudentsreturning to the home school district for education or for being educated in another setting and participation in researching and discussing such options with otherappropriate staffand outside service providers.
Maintainsaccuraterecords and documentation of services provided.
Serves as a member of the Education staff attending all Education department meetingsandappropriate Educationand Interdisciplinary Teammeetings.
Assistswith crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in school social work.
In addition toparticipatinginprofessional development opportunities provided by the agencyincluding but not limited to TCI and CARE.
Collaborate with teachers paraprofessionals and related service providers
AttendsPPTs for assigned students. Develops goals andobjectivesfor students with IEP counseling services.
Preparessocial workupdatesin advance of the PPT.
Participates in developing with theClinical Supervisor an annual supervision plan through mutual goal setting.
Serves asliaisonbetween home and school.Engagescaregiversin students education and ensures effective communication with students andcaregivers.
Collaborate with community agencies to ensure thatcaregivershave access to needed services and resources.
Complete risk and threat assessments when necessary.
Assistswith social emotional lessons in the classroom.
Provides target group interventions based onidentifiedstudent needs that are not mandated through IEP services.
Maintains knowledge of and follows Agency procedures as contained in the WCS Personnel Handbook WCS Procedure Manual and other Agency manuals.
Functions as a positive role model for all students and staff at Waterford Country School.
Maintain an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic differences present among the service population and fellow staff members of WCS ensuring that cultural needs are respected and supported through the delivery of services and the development and implementation of agency programs and policies in a manner that is free from discrimination and bias relating to race ethnicity age disability gender sexual orientation status as a victim of domestic violence or religious beliefs.
Maintainaccess to andcomply withcurrent and ethical professional standards of the discipline in whichthey arecredentialed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of EducationPrincipal.
