Position Overview
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join a specialized Mental Health Unit within a forensic setting. This role involves providing critical therapeutic services to forensic patients, serving as a primary therapist within a high-security environment. You will be responsible for managing a caseload, conducting clinical assessments, and facilitating therapeutic groups to support patient rehabilitation and safety.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Primary Therapy: Provide individual therapy and serve as the lead clinician for assigned patients, ensuring interventions align with established policies and procedures.

  • Clinical Assessments: Complete comprehensive mental health documentation, including Core Histories, Suicide Risk Assessments, and ongoing Risk Evaluations.

  • Treatment Planning: Develop, implement, and update individualized Treatment Plans and Discharge Plans.

  • Group Facilitation: Lead therapeutic groups focused on mental health stability, coping skills, and forensic-specific rehabilitation.

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous Weekly and Monthly Progress Notes in accordance with NYS OMH standards.

  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety and security protocols required within a forensic facility.
Candidate Requirements

  • Licensure: Must possess a valid license and current registration as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State.

  • Health Screenings: Successful candidates must provide proof of a recent TB test and Flu shot.

  • Orientation: Must complete and pass the Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) orientation.

  • Environment: Must be comfortable working in a forensic setting with potential contact with incarcerated individuals.
