SUMMARY

The Software Architect III plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing software solutions that meet complex and high-scale requirements. This role is expected to have in-depth technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a strategic mindset to drive architectural decisions and guide development teams.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python), experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and familiarity with microservices architecture, distributed systems, and integration patterns.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically and develop efficient solutions to complex problems.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

A track record of successful system integrations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.

Must possess appropriate level of certifications as required.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Leads the creation of high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, performance, and integration with existing systems.

Provides technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and best practices.

Works closely with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and effective software architectures.

Oversees the development process to ensure that the software meets prescribed architectural patterns, security standards, and quality benchmarks.

Stays up-to-date with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on existing and future systems; make recommendations for technology adoption.

Prepares and maintains comprehensive architectural documents, including system diagrams, design specifications, and technical plans.

Addresses technical challenges, redesign architectures to resolve issues, and optimize systems for better performance and scalability.

Advocates for continuous improvement of software architecture processes, methodologies, and tools used by the development team.

Proficient in multiple programming languages, cloud platforms, databases, and modern architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architectures).

Strong analytical skills with the ability to thoroughly evaluate and address complex technical issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.

Demonstrates ability to lead and inspire technical teams and to drive consensus among diverse groups.

Possesses the ability to focus on details while maintaining the bigger picture.

Provides innovative, long-term solutions and is comfortable with ambiguity.

Demonstrates a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution, with a strong sense of ownership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four to seven (4-7) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
