Software Dev Engineer IV

Location: Seattle, Washington (Onsite)

COMPENSATION: $75 - $83 HOURLY

Role Overview

This role involves the design, development, implementation, and testing of software for drone systems. The focus will be on sensor integration and embedded applications. The position requires ownership of the testing process for new features and products, from establishing verification and validation strategies to executing test plans and reporting results. The work involves testing complex sensing systems and producing comprehensive documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, test, and document software for drone systems.
• Utilize multi-threaded programming in C++ and Python in a Linux environment.
• Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS), including Yocto, and kernel system call interfaces.
• Establish verification and validation (V&V) thresholds and strategy.
• Develop and execute test plans for new features and products.
• Report on test results and produce comprehensive, usable documentation.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics, or a related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the job offered or in related occupations such as Test Engineer, Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, or Embedded Systems Engineer is necessary. Experience must include testing software solutions prior to launch, test plan development and execution, and working independently.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in multi-threaded and distributed programming in C++ or Python on Linux is required. Experience with embedded systems development, hardware integration, and real-time operating systems (RTOS) is also necessary. Strong technical writing skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotics navigation and sensor integration.
• Familiarity with AWS pipeline development.
