Key job responsibilities

• Design and implement software solutions that enable new features and improve existing systems, balancing functional and non-functional requirements such as scalability, performance, and security.
• Deliver high-quality code across the full development lifecycle-from scoping and design through testing, deployment, and ongoing operations-while identifying and resolving root causes of operational issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including product managers, stakeholders, and peer engineers to understand business and customer needs, ensuring your solutions deliver meaningful value.
• Mentor and coach team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing, producing clear documentation so that your software can be maintained and extended by others.
• Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and approaches-including generative AI capabilities-to recommend and adopt improvements that increase your team"s productivity and code quality.

A day in the life

You might start by reviewing a design document for an upcoming feature, then move into a focused coding session where you implement and test a key component. After lunch, you join a code review, offering constructive feedback to a teammate while picking up ideas for your own work. Later, you collaborate with a product manager to clarify requirements for an upcoming sprint, and wrap up by investigating an operational metric that looks off, tracing it to a configuration change and proposing a permanent fix.
