Software Development Engineer III
The Software Development Engineer III designs, builds, tests, and supports software solutions across web, mobile, cloud, or enterprise platforms in an agile team environment. This role solves complex technical problems, contributes to system and application architecture, and delivers reliable, scalable solutions aligned with organizational objectives, leveraging hands-on experience with C# RESTful services, Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL technologies, and Azure-based solutions including CI/CD pipelines, event-driven architecture, geo-redundant systems, and test-driven development (TDD) and SOLID principles.
Working with moderate to high-risk initiatives, this role exercises seasoned judgment, technical depth, and practical problem-solving skills. The SDE III serves as a technical resource for their team, contributes to engineering standards, and may mentor less experienced engineers.
This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.
Job Responsibilities
Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and IT leaders to identify problems or improvement opportunities and recommend scalable, performant software solutions with a system-wide architectural perspective.
Analyze moderate to high-risk business and technical requirements, design solution alternatives, and contribute to technical decision-making across platforms and systems.
Design and implement software solutions using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and platforms. Develop code, configure systems, and continuously improve application quality and performance.
Apply modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and secure coding standards.
Create and maintain unit tests, participate in integration and cross-functional testing efforts, and document test outcomes.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design artifacts, SDLC documentation, and production change records.
Diagnose and resolve production issues, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and participation in on-call or support rotations as required.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet development milestones and delivery commitments. Provide constructive feedback through design and code reviews.
Act as a technical resource for the team, sharing knowledge and best practices across the engineering community. May mentor or guide less experienced staff.
Contribute to the standardization of engineering processes and ensure adherence to enterprise standards and best practices.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends and share relevant learnings with teammates.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
4 + years or more of professional software development experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with cloud-based solutions
Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated environments
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
Exposure to API-driven and service-based architectures
Experience creating and using automated testing tools

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range: $111,900.00 - $190,200.00
National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
