APPLE INC has the following available for Software Development Engineer (REQ#200664796) in Seattle, Washington. Design, develop, manage, and execute automated tests for Apple products (Siri). Provide quality engineering in support of delivering high quality products to Apple customers, as well as, being a great partner with Product Engineering teams in establishing solid automation and test frameworks. Engage throughout the full project cycle from the beginning. Participate in discussions in architectures design, end-to-end integration and user impacts to bake quality into a project, with a bigger picture in mind and advocate for quality at every step of the way. Develop automated tests and required framework to efficiently perform regular testing. Review tests developed by engineering teams to ensure they meet the quality bar. Build, review, and maintain a solid quality plan, with in depth knowledge built along with the Engineering teams. Coordinate and drive test plans across different teams. Design/recommend logging telemetry to improve failure triaging efficiency and gather quality metrics. Review architecture design to ensure system simplicity and testability to deliver high standard quality. Dive deep into existing systems to identify root causes and opportunities for reliability and service improvements. Participate in post mortem discussions regarding assigned services to think strategically about how to prevent similar issues in the future. Attend review meetings and communicate status/changes to stakeholders. Liaise between multiple locations and time zones (triage, fix bug fixes and coordinate work). Act as a collaborator to discuss and raise quality concerns /issues with cross functional teams. $212,202 - $258,100/yr.


REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.


1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:


1. Running test automation daily and ensuring tests are running smoothly, promptly and efficiently, ensuring results are generated on time without any failures in test logic.

2. Writing automated tests using Swift (XCTest), Objective-C, Python, or Java.

3. Participating in test planning, including collaborating with various teams to understand features and services to be tested from User scenario and architecture perspectives, discussing and raising quality concerns and issues with cross-functional teams, and assessing test scenarios.

4. Observing test metrics daily, assessing test execution, and addressing issues found during testing

5. Using GitHub, TeamCity, and Jenkins to maintain automated tests.

6. Providing Project Management and Communication, including attending review meetings, communicating status and changes to stakeholders, participating in post mortems for future improvements, and liaising between multiple teams, locations, and timezones to execute testing and triage bugs.

7. Applying architecture design concepts to ensure system simplicity and testability and reviewing existing systems to identify root causes and opportunities for reliability and service improvements.

8. Working on large multi-functional teams and multiple time zones and explaining proposals to stakeholders.

9. Working on embedded devices and how those devices work across massively distributed systems to understand testing needs.

The base pay range for this role is between $212,202 - $258,100/yr., and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
