Software Development Internship

What You Will DoIn all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

On our Web Applications team you would:• Support the team in developing and managing the cspire.com website and sub-properties.• Assist with initiatives to transform the website into the primary channel for sales, support, and self-service.• Learn modern frameworks and practices for responsive, customer-focused web development.

On our Mobile Applications team you would:• Work alongside developers maintaining iOS and Android applications.• Gain hands-on experience with languages such as Swift, Java, Kotlin, and Objective-C.• Support projects that help thousands of customers manage accounts and access healthcare through mobile apps.

On our Middleware and Backend Systems team you would:

• Contribute to the design and maintenance of Java and Scala microservices.• Assist with systems processing billions of API calls per year.• Learn how core backend systems power business operations and customer interactions.

On our Data Engineering team you would:• Support the design and maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server databases.• Learn how data warehouses and big data environments are used for reporting and analytics.• Gain exposure to managing the full data lifecycle from conception to consumption.

Our general intern responsibilities are:• Provide support to the designated department while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.• Perform assignments given by your Manager with accuracy and timeliness.• Collaborate in a fast-paced team environment, communicating effectively across departments.• Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support tasks and reporting.• Participate in activities with other interns in the summer program.

In addition to that, we require:• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university as a junior, senior, or graduate student in good standing.• Pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.• Successful completion of at least one course in an object-oriented programming language (Java preferred).• Successful completion of at least 12 credit hours in computer technology or math-related coursework.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Housing in the Jackson, MS metro area.• Must be at least 18 years of age.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:• Previous project or internship experience in web, mobile, middleware, or data engineering.• Familiarity with modern development tools and practices such as Git, CI/CD, or Agile methodologies.

Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsInterns must be able to adapt and perform in a rapidly changing work environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing a computer screen.
