We are looking for an exceptional software development leader to help revolutionize cloud file storage for workloads like GPU-heavy AI/ML workloads, high-performance computing (HPC), and enterprise applications. Launched in 2018, Amazon FSx is an AWS service that provides fully managed and high-performance file storage that powers some of the most critical and largest-scale workloads running on AWS today.

AWS is a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon, with over a million active customers in 190 countries around the world. AWS has been continually expanding its services to support virtually any cloud workload, and it now has more than 90 services that range from compute, storage, networking, database, analytics, application services, deployment, management, developer, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), security, hybrid and enterprise applications.

We maintain this rapid pace of innovation by treating each team like its own independent business inside AWS, directly accountable for their customers satisfaction, service innovations, growth, and meeting revenue goals.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team designing and building transformative new customer experiences, developer tooling, and automation for Amazon FSx. Delivering reliable and high-performance services and features at AWS scale requires technical leaders with extraordinary expertise and boundless creativity. At Amazon, managers will interact with customers, understand our business goals, and innovate rapidly, delivering high-quality and ground-breaking functionality.

Embark on a journey with us to build a new service for AWS. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to shape the future of a nascent service at Amazon scale with a team that is super smart, driven to serve customers, and fun to work with!

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers in delivery and operational excellence of an AWS service
  • Hire, mentor, and promote engineers
  • Work with teams across AWS to build new solutions
  • Build mechanisms to drive the highest standards within your team
  • Work with product managers, principal engineers, and senior leadership to define the technical roadmap and strategy for FSx

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
