Description Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities beyond the reach of existing networks. Every customer, whether B2C, B2B, or B2G, connects to that network through an antenna (customer terminal), so antenna delivery, deployment, and lifecycle management are foundational to the Leo customer experience. Do you want an opportunity to develop the software systems that track and account for antennas and other equipment across an advanced global telecom supply chain? The Leo Inventory Accounting team is a software engineering team that builds the systems and integrations responsible for keeping Leo's inventory systems of record accurate. We are building our own services and expanding core Amazon systems as needed to ensure antennas and associated equipment are correctly accounted for as they move from manufacturing handoff through distribution, deployment, field operations, and reverse logistics across multiple countries. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to own equipment inventory accounting for Leo. You will lead a team of software engineers building the platforms that track antennas and other equipment through every stage of the supply chain, from contract manufacturer through customer deliveries and installations, back through RMA and reverse logistics, and then redeployment. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate, auditable inventory records at global scale, enabling customer deliveries, supply chain efficiency, and financial accuracy. Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities - Aid in the design and delivery of inventory accounting systems, services, and integrations for Leo's antennas and other equipment, including forward and reverse logistics flows. - Work with our peer teams and stakeholders,including logistics, finance, and deployment operations, to design software systems and interfaces that maintain inventory accuracy across organizational and geographic boundaries. - Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective. - Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers. - Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Leo. - Help on-board and mentor new team members. A day in the life You will work with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations stakeholders on defining the roadmap for Leo's equipment inventory accounting platform. You will own solving this across multiple SKUs, jurisdictions, and stages of the supply chain - building software that maintains a single source of truth from contract manufacturer through customer deliveries and through the full reverse logistics lifecycle. About the team The Leo Inventory Accounting team is a software engineering team responsible for keeping the inventory systems of record accurate for antennas and other equipment across the global supply chain. We build systems and integrations that operate across the handoffs between manufacturing partners, distribution centers, field deployment teams, customer sites, and RMA and reverse logistics operations. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
