Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports - including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Are you interested in shaping the future of entertainment? Prime Video"s technology teams are creating best-in-class digital video experience.

We"ll look for you to bring your diverse perspectives, ideas, and skill-sets to make Prime Video even better for our customers. With global opportunities for talented technologists, you can decide where a career Prime Video Tech takes you!

The Prime Video Title Lifecycle Presentation & Science team owns how content is presented to customers throughout its lifecycle - from pre-release anticipation through active viewing to long-tail catalog discovery. We use applied science, experimentation, and data signals to determine what information to show customers about a title, when to show it, and how to make it compelling. Our work directly influences content discovery and customer engagement across Prime Video"s global catalog.

We"re seeking a Software Development Manager to lead this team of engineers and applied scientists. You will own the team"s execution, delivery, and technical direction while managing a cross-functional group that blends software engineering with machine learning. This is a hands-on leadership role where you"ll drive a high-velocity experimentation program, manage the delivery of ML-powered content presentation features, and navigate a complex dependency landscape where many of the signals and data your team consumes originate from systems owned by other teams.

The ideal candidate brings:

Experience leading a team that combines software engineering and applied science, with the ability to set direction across both disciplines and create an environment where engineers and scientists collaborate effectively

A track record of delivering through experimentation at scale - designing, running, and interpreting A/B tests that drive measurable customer engagement outcomes

Comfort managing complex cross-team dependencies where your team consumes inputs from systems you don"t own, and the ability to influence partner teams" roadmaps through partnership rather than authority

Strong technical judgment in distributed systems, ML model productionization, and service architecture, with the ability to inspect and challenge technical proposals from your team

Experience making prioritization trade-offs across concurrent workstreams - balancing an active experimentation portfolio against new strategic initiatives, and making crisp decisions about what to pursue, defer, or stop

Demonstrated ability to develop engineers and scientists, set clear performance expectations, and build a team that delivers independently

Key job responsibilities

Own Team Execution and Delivery: Lead a team of software engineers and applied scientists delivering content presentation features powered by machine learning. You are accountable for the team"s roadmap, experimentation velocity, software quality, and operational excellence. You scope development efforts, identify risks, and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.

Drive a Science-Powered Experimentation Program: Own the experimentation lifecycle end-to-end - from hypothesis generation through experiment design, execution, analysis, and launch decisions. Partner with your applied scientists to translate ML models into production features that improve the customer experience.

Manage Cross-Team Dependencies: Your team"s work depends on data, signals, and platform capabilities owned by multiple partner teams. You will build and maintain productive relationships with these teams, influence their priorities to unblock your roadmap, and establish mechanisms to manage these dependencies durably.

Develop and Grow Your Team: Manage the performance and career development of your engineers and scientists. Set clear expectations aligned with role guidelines, provide regular feedback, and create growth opportunities. Build a team culture that values both technical rigor and speed of iteration.

Maintain Operational Excellence: Ensure the services and systems your team owns meet Prime Video"s operational standards. Establish metrics, monitor customer impact, and drive continuous improvement in reliability and performance.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
