Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a growing software engineering team developing enterprise software solutions for mining and machine technology.
The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services while working in a Scrum/Agile environment with developers, QA engineers, product teams, and global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
- Build clean, secure, reliable, and maintainable software.
- Develop automated tests and participate in code reviews.
- Work with Scrum teams from requirements and estimation through implementation, testing, and release.
- Contribute to solution design for complex technical problems.
- Create technical documentation for implementation and support.
- Help improve software quality, performance, reliability, and development practices.
- Participate in delivery planning, estimation, sequencing, and risk management.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and QA teams to refine requirements and provide progress updates.
- Troubleshoot production and non-production issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative fixes.
- Work with globally distributed software teams across the US and Australia.
Required Qualifications- 5 7 years of relevant commercial software development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
- Strong commercial experience with Java.
- Experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
- Strong knowledge of microservices and distributed architectures.
- Experience with build, test, and dependency management tools.
- Experience with modern database design and technologies.
- Understanding of single-threaded and multi-threaded environments.
- Strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a commercial Scrum/Agile development team.
- Understanding of modern security principles and technologies.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred / Additional Skills- Experience designing scalable enterprise applications.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of software quality, security, resilience, and automated testing.
- Experience participating in technical design and planning discussions.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously improve engineering practices.

The candidate should be comfortable working in Scrum teams and contributing to design, development, testing, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support.
