Scope of Services
The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is looking to engage the services of a Software Engineer Database. The scope of services required for the role includes:
Core Technical Skills:
" 10+ years of experience with SQL Server, must include version 2014 through 2022.
" Knowledge and experience of database design & data modeling.
" Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Visio or similar data modeling tools.
" Knowledge and experience in the design and creation of tables, indexes, foreign keys, including the use of appropriate data types, default constraints, etc.
" Significant experience of advanced SQL and T-SQL development, including designing and writing complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and userdefined functions.
" Must demonstrate knowledge of ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) concepts. Experience designing and building ETL Processes. Experience working with SSIS is a plus.
" Has good knowledge / technical expertise in data migration, including data extraction, data validation and cleansing processes / methodology.
" Knowledge and experience in the design and creation of XML schema, XML data storage and transformation.
" XML knowledge is required for legacy data conversion into XML-based structures.
" Knowledge and experience in performance tuning techniques: Query optimization, Index tuning, Execution plan analysis, and Database performance troubleshooting.
" Researching and troubleshooting data inconsistencies, scripting solutions to fix production data issues.
" Experience with RedGate tools to manage database objects and deployment to the various environments, preferred.
" Special consideration will be given to candidates with working knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.
Soft Skills:
" Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
" Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and have a basic understanding of project management.
" Excellent verbal communication skills to explain and transfer knowledge both informally and at design and code review meetings.
" Excellent written communication skills to prepare regular periodic status reports and documentation.
" Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Tools.
Minimum Qualifications
The minimum skills and experience levels required for a candidate to be considered for this position include:
" Minimum ten (10) years of development experience coding applications using SQL Server 2014 through 2022.
" Knowledge and experience in the design and creation of tables, indexes, foreign keys, including the use of appropriate data types, default constraints, etc.
" Knowledge and experience of advanced SQL and T-SQL development, including designing and writing complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and userdefined functions.
" Perform field mapping (mapping between the source and target structure with data cleansing, if necessary).
" Define the migration process (automated and manual).
" Develop data extractors and loaders.
" Responsible for data management and conversion activities such as Data Assessment, cleansing, extracting, migrating and reconciliation of data.
" Knowledge and experience in the design and creation of XML schema, XML data storage and transformation.
" XML knowledge is required for legacy data conversion into XML-based structures.
" Knowledge and experience in performance tuning techniques.
" Manage the data conversion process and data push process to the various environments.
" Create and maintain technical documentation.
" Provide management level statistics and reports to monitor data migration progress.
" Investigate, analyze and document reported defects.
" Investigate and rectify technical issues within the ETL process.
" Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
" Ability to work well with a team of developers and business analysts.
Timetable
The selected candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week for 6 months with a possible renewal of up to 6 months, commencing on or around October 1, 2026. IT consultants are required to attend their first two days in person in Glastonbury, CT.
Thereafter, consultants are currently allowed to work 100% remotely with the project manager's approval.
