DevOps Engineer

Responsible for implementing and maintaining a self-service deployment platform, including troubleshooting of system and data issues for both lower and production environments. Collaborate with the software development teams to streamline and simplify the deployment process and serve as the first line of contact for highly complex Lab/production issues.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Drive the building of tools for automated deployment.
• Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
• Collaborate with developers, architects and hybrid-infrastructure teams to install or upgrade third party software.
• Tests and reviews system designs.
• Specialist for system performance and reliability, solving design problems and developing specialized skillsets.
• Provides engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.
• Mentors and guides the work of technical staff.
• Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements.
• Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Knows, understands and follows company policy.
• Performs other duties as requested by manager.

Qualifications

Technical Skills And Knowledge

• DevOps position in non-production lab environment automating deployment, integration, and support of virtualized infrastructure.
• Applicant needs to have Linux administration experience.
• Programming experience in Shell Scripting, Python, Perl, Java, and Ruby.
• Support and API development experience against SQL and non-relational databases.
• Orchestration of containerized environment and supporting application teams new to Kubernetes.

Soft Skills

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to work across functional boundaries, build consensus and drive results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and should have good presentation skills.
• Must be a problem solver, able to balance competing priorities, have a strong process orientation and be able to manage through complexity and rapid change.

Related Work Experience / Number Of Years

• Cloud based DevOps engineering experience / 5+
• Experience with Software Development Methodologies / 5+

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vSphere virtualization platform.
• Experience with GitLab source control.
• Experience with Helm to deploy Kubernetes applications.
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Terraform and Jenkins.
• Experience with Portworx persistent volumes.
• Experience with Docker containerization and Rancher orchestration.
• Experience with Artifactory for managing and replicating artifacts.
• Experience with Vault for managing secrets.
