Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

This Software Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance applications and embedded systems that support advanced electronic warfare test and simulation solutions. You will work with modern software languages and tools, contribute to both embedded and graphical user interface development, and collaborate closely with hardware engineers in a lab environment to deliver high-fidelity systems that simulate complex electromagnetic threats. This position is open to all levels of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and maintain software applications in various programming languages with minimal supervision.
  • Develop embedded software in C and C++ for microcontrollers and FPGAs used in electronic warfare test and simulation systems.
  • Implement and maintain graphical user interfaces to support system operation, control, and visualization.
  • Author interface control documents, technical specifications, and detailed test procedures for software designs.
  • Work closely with hardware in a lab environment to integrate software with test and simulation hardware platforms.
  • Debug and troubleshoot systems using lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers and digital oscilloscopes.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Apply object-oriented design principles and design patterns to create robust, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-fidelity simulation of radar and missile threats for aircraft sensor and electronics testing.
  • Support development of systems used on the flight line, test ranges, and in lab environments to simulate enemy radar or missile threats for testing and training purposes.
  • Follow coding standards and best practices to ensure code quality, reliability, and consistency across projects.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet project deadlines, and proactively resolve technical issues.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in software development using C and C++, including strong object-oriented design skills and use of design patterns.
  • Experience with embedded software development for microcontrollers and/or FPGAs.
  • Experience with Linux and embedded Linux environments.
  • Hands-on experience with firmware development and low-level hardware interaction.
  • Familiarity with database design and SQL.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or later.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new tasks quickly, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and solve complex problems.
  • Strong self-motivation, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using lab test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and digital oscilloscopes.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • For Level 2: Bachelors degree with 2+ years of related experience.
  • For Level 3: Bachelors degree with 5+ years of related experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.
  • Experience with MATLAB for analysis, modeling, or signal processing.
  • Experience with graphical user interface programming.
  • Familiarity with coding standards and best practices for safety- or mission-critical systems.
  • Prior internships or project experience focused on C/C++ programming, particularly in embedded or systems-level development.
  • Interest in or exposure to electronic warfare, radar, or complex electromagnetic systems.
  • Strong written communication skills for producing interface control documents, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including hardware and systems engineers.

Work Environment

The role is based in a state-of-the-art engineering and laboratory facility focused on designing and developing test and simulation hardware and software for electronic warfare applications. You will work with systems used on the flight line, test ranges, and in laboratory environments to simulate enemy radar and missile threats for aircraft sensor and electronics testing and pilot training. The work involves high-fidelity software and hardware design to accurately model evolving electromagnetic threat environments. You will regularly interact with modern lab equipment, including spectrum analyzers and digital oscilloscopes, and work within Linux and embedded Linux environments, as well as tools such as Visual Studio, SQL, Python, and MATLAB. The position follows a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off, supporting a balanced work-life rhythm. You will be part of a broader organization that invests heavily in training, professional development, and access to extensive engineering resources, offering opportunities to grow your skills while contributing to innovative aerospace, defense, specialized vehicle, turf care, and fuel systems technologies.
