Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires 2 years of experience in the following:
    • Utilizing systems programming, high performance computing or distributed systems development;
    • Data structures and algorithms;
    • Python, C++, Java, TypeScript, Kotlin, Rust, Qiskit, Cirq, or JavaScript; and
    • In two of the following: Quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, low-level code optimization, high-performance computing (HPC), GPU programming, real-time computing (RTC), device driver development, embedded programming, kernel development, compiler development, concurrency, Quantum computing, Classical Coding Theory, Graph Algorithms, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Numerical Algorithms, or Generative AI.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000 - $211,000 bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Position reports to the Google Venice, CA office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code and draft designs.
  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews with peers or stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Identify technical problems with requirements and fix them, and address and triage commonly escalated issues. Contribute to data preparation, optimization, and/or performance enhancements.
  • Work closely with other research groups on collaborative research efforts. Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Consistently generate the ideas required to solve ambiguous problems. Collaborate with teams of different backgrounds, including hardware engineers, electronic engineers, or research scientists.
