Microsoft's Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP's vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud and AI capabilities at scale. Our mission is to deliver the worlds computer with an industry-leading supply chain. The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsofts over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.

The Cloud Supply Chain Engineering (CSCP-E) group is an exciting and fast-evolving engineering group within Microsoft that powers Microsoft's Cloud-first mission. We are responsible for supporting the supply chain that powers Microsofts cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable software services and AI-powered applications.
• Build copilots, intelligent agents, and workflow automation using large language models and agentic AI frameworks.
• Develop reusable APIs, services, libraries, and platform components for enterprise AI scenarios.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, embeddings, tool calling, memory, and multi-agent workflows.
• Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems, operational processes, and structured and unstructured data sources.
• Establish automated evaluations for accuracy, groundedness, relevance, safety, latency, reliability, and cost.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure, accessible, and well-tested production code.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, incident response, troubleshooting, and operational improvements.
• Apply security, privacy, compliance, accessibility, and responsible-AI requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering velocity while maintaining accountability for code quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in one or more languages such as C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing cloud-based applications, APIs, distributed services, or enterprise platforms.
• Understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and system-design fundamentals.
• Practical knowledge of generative AI concepts, including LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG, and intelligent agents.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, or similar technologies.
• Experience delivering production-grade copilots, AI agents, RAG systems, or intelligent automation.
• Knowledge of model and agent evaluation, responsible AI, prompt-injection protection, content safety, and AI red teaming.
• Experience with Azure AI Search, AKS, App Service, Functions, Cosmos DB, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure Monitor.
• Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and managed-identity security patterns.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, caching, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with MLOps, LLMOps, experimentation, telemetry, and AI lifecycle management.
• Experience with supply-chain, ERP, SAP, or other large-scale enterprise systems.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
