Description

Software Engineer II
Location: Urbandale, IA (Onsite initially, with potential to transition remote based on performance)
Compensation: Up to $62/hr W2 + medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits
Join a team developing cloud-based weather data acquisition, processing, and analytics solutions. This role focuses on building scalable backend systems and data pipelines that support large-scale weather datasets while working closely with product teams, data scientists, and end users.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native applications using Python and AWS services.
  • Design and enhance backend systems, REST APIs, and data processing workflows.
  • Build and support scalable data pipelines for large-volume datasets.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Develop containerized solutions using Docker and cloud technologies.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and production operations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and data scientists to deliver new features and improvements.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and optimize system performance and cloud costs.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong Python development experience in production environments.
  • AWS experience including Lambda, S3, IAM, and related cloud services.
  • Experience with big data processing and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of Databricks, Spark/PySpark, SQL, PostgreSQL, and data engineering concepts.
  • Experience with Terraform, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
