Opportunity Summary: 
You’ll be a member of our brilliant engineering team, contributing to the design of new innovative products. To be successful in this position, you should be a curious, problem solver and have experience in JavaScript, React, Tailwind, and familiarity with Node.js. WordPress or PHP experience a plus. 

As a Software Engineer, you will engage in designing, developing, and enhancing new and existing products. Participate in the maintenance, testing, and evaluation of products. Provide proactive communication to the team about product progress, and blockers as they arise. One of your key goals will be to take part in team sprint ceremonies to prioritize, review, and discuss backlog items, ensuring the workload for upcoming sprints is always correctly prioritized. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to communicate product progress to team members. 

  • Collaborating with team members to build out and test products. 

  • Maintain product design documentation. 

  • Follows the recommended reliable, efficient, and high-quality procedures.  

  • Performs feasibility, functionality, and quality testing of designs.  

  • Works with other members of the Software Engineering team to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines. 

  • This role may include a degree of variability in responsibilities and duties as deemed by the supervisor. The Contingent employees should be prepared for a dynamic work environment. 

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience (or equivalent work experience) in relevant fields software engineering, computer science etc. 

  • Expertise in relevant technical fields, such as software development and quality assurance. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of constituents utilizing multi-cultural intelligence, intentional listening, appreciation, and respect. 

  • Excellent external and internal written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills. 

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Azure DevOps etc. 

  • A willingness to be “hands-on” and work in a lean, fast-paced organization with limited administrative support. 

  • The capability of handling ambiguity and driving the work autonomously. 

  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse, changing environment, while maintaining a calm and positive spirit. 

  • Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of constituents utilizing multi-cultural intelligence, intentional listening, and appreciation and respect. 

  • Experience supporting teams of entry-level professionals and coaching rising leaders in their development.

Employment Terms, Accountability, and Compensation:   

  • Full Time (40hrs) exempt annual salary offered at a range of $90,000 - $95,000 (estimated total compensation $100,000 - $105,000) doe 

  • Starting placement will not exceed this starting salary range and is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. 

  • This is a hybrid position in Portland, Oregon. 

  • This position will be expected to work within The Contingent’s hybrid work policy (2-3 days the office, 2-3 days from home). Daily schedule and office days will result from collaboration between the employee and their supervisor. 

  • We have team members located in multiple time zones. To facilitate collaboration across teams, core hours for this position are 9-2 pm PST 

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
