ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the development and stabilization of a low-level graphics software stack for a new product. This role focuses on systems-level graphics, including graphics APIs, drivers, testing, and developer tooling rather than application-level graphics development.
The engineer will serve as a frontline technical resource for diagnosing complex issues across the software stack. The ideal candidate has extensive C/C++ systems programming experience, strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills, and knowledge of modern graphics systems and APIs.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
- Triage and debug complex issues involving graphics APIs, drivers, operating-system components, and related systems
- Perform root-cause analysis and determine whether issues originate within the graphics stack or elsewhere in the system
- Investigate application crashes, system hangs, performance issues, rendering failures, and other stability problems
- Fix defects and coordinate with appropriate engineering teams when issues originate outside the graphics stack
- Develop and maintain regression tests to prevent recurring issues
- Build new tests and improve test coverage as new features and code paths are introduced
- Contribute to graphics profiling, debugging, and developer tooling
- Support development of new graphics functionality as project needs allow
- Collaborate with engineers working higher in the stack who consume the team's graphics APIs, drivers, and tooling
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- 5+ years of professional C/C++ development experience
- Advanced proficiency in C++, particularly in low-level or systems-level software development
- Demonstrated experience writing, debugging, and troubleshooting complex low-level code
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across interconnected software components
- Knowledge of computer systems and the ability to reason across multiple layers of a software stack
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
NICE TO HAVES
- Strong knowledge of or hands-on experience with graphics APIs, including Vulkan, DirectX 12, Metal, OpenGL, DirectX 11, or similar
- Experience with graphics systems, graphics drivers, GPU software, rendering systems, or other graphics-adjacent development
- Understanding of the 3D graphics pipeline
- Experience with professional graphics profiling and debugging methodologies and tooling
- Experience developing software for real-time graphics environments, including gaming or similar applications
- Experience developing tests and tooling for complex systems software
- Python experience
