Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 2 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python or Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience contributing to high-availability systems, data storage, or latency-sensitive applications, with an appetite for 0-to-1 development.
  • Experience in ML infrastructure, recommendation systems, behavioral classifiers, or Large Language Models (LLM)-driven features.
  • Experience building user-facing features with a focus on product growth, experimentation, and optimizing the end-user journey.
  • Ability to author clear design documents, debug complex cross-stack issues, and separately drive medium-to-large infrastructure from concept to launch.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-availability back-end serving and storage systems for the ecosystem. Build low-latency services to track quota usage and verify AI feature entitlements in real-time.
  • Lead cross-product area collaboration to integrate these systems with the Google One infrastructure.
  • Build the intelligence engine that drives awareness and adoption of Search's latest AI features.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
