Job Title: Software Engineer III


Job Duties: Work with the Neural Dynamics division to develop next-generation methods and theories and employ a team-based approach for discovery neuroscience (20%). Vet and deploy cutting-edge methods for computer vision algorithms that can be applied to image data to product outputs for scientific analysis (30%). Deploy and monitor image analysis pipelines on cluster and cloud-based architectures (15%). Engage with collaborators and the community to learn and share best practices (10%). Follow industry software development best practices-developing unit and integration tests, participating in code reviews, version code, tracking issues, and writing documentation (15%). Engage with collaborators and the community to learn and share best practices (10%). Share methods with the community via white papers, conference talks, and journal articles (10%).



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field, or the foreign degree equivalent, and three (3) years of experience in systems engineering, including::


• Three (3) years of experience applying computer vision and image processing algorithms to imaging data, including both deep learning architecture and traditional feature-based methods.

• Three (3) years of experience applying standard machine learning techniques such as SVMs, CNNs, other neural networks.

• Three (3) years of experience in collaborative work with end user scientists in neuroscience, biology or medicine.

• Two (2) years of experience developing methods for image segmentation.

• One (1) year of experience developing large-scale image processing pipelines in the cloud.

• One (1) year of experience developing software for light sheet microscopy image processing.

• One (1) year of experience developing data processing methods for rodent brain image analysis.


Experience may be gained concurrently. Any suitable combination of experience of education, training, or experience is acceptable.


SALARY:  $146,600 to $183,250 per year. 


LOCATION OF

EMPLOYMENT: Full time; 40 hours per week. Position at Allen Institute in Seattle, WA. 3 days per week in office.
