JOB SUMMARY
The Software Engineer IV (Lead) develops, implements, and maintains software solutions that enable business operations to achieve company goals and objectives. This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership responsibilities, serving as both a senior individual contributor and lead developer. The incumbent performs analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, production support, and automation activities while also mentoring team members, driving engineering best practices, and influencing technical direction.
This role is hybrid for candidates located near our Raleigh or Jersey City offices, with an expectation of three days per week onsite. Candidates based in Raleigh or Jersey City must be willing to work onsite in a hybrid capacity. We are also open to remote candidates, with a preference for those located in East Coast states, provided they are willing to travel to Raleigh or Jersey City for interviews.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Works with the Agile Program Manager (APM), Digital Product Manager (DPM), and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artifacts, including design specifications, source code, test scripts, and test results.
Partners with software architects and other technical leaders to ensure solutions align with Enterprise Architecture principles and software engineering best practices.
Serves as a Lead SWE, balancing approximately 50% hands-on engineering work and 50% technical leadership, mentoring, and team coordination responsibilities.
Performs application design, coding, code reviews, testing, production support, troubleshooting, and process automation activities.
Provides technical leadership across Agile teams and keeps stakeholders apprised of project status, risks, and dependencies.
Offers recommendations to stakeholders on effective and efficient approaches to achieve project and program objectives.
Manages engineering risks by proactively identifying, communicating, and mitigating issues.
Liaises with other project and program teams to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
Supports business units in the resolution of complex user questions and production issues while adhering to established support processes and SLAs.
Provides input into product roadmaps, high-level estimates, engineering standards, guidelines, processes, and templates.
Mentors and coaches engineers, providing regular feedback to support technical growth, skill development, and career progression.
Partners with architects and cross-functional teams to develop solution designs and drive technical decision-making.
Identifies gaps in engineering processes, development practices, and team workflows, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.
Leads or participates in cross-team technical discussions, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment on architecture, delivery, and engineering standards.
Demonstrates experience managing team priorities, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$115,000-$180,000 /yr
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
