Job Summary

Software Engineer (Mid-Senior) - Java Application with strong full-stack development experience and hands-on experience using
AI-assisted software development tools. The engineer will support the design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of enterprise applications for a mission-critical
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) federal healthcare program.
The role requires strong experience across
Angular frontend development and Java/Spring Boot backend development, along with the ability to leverage AI tools to improve software development productivity, quality, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Angular/TypeScript on the frontend and Java/Spring Boot on the backend.
- Develop responsive, user-friendly web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Develop scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs supporting enterprise business processes and system integrations.
- Integrate Angular applications with backend REST APIs and enterprise services.
- Implement service-to-service integrations using Spring Cloud/OpenFeign.
- Develop data access and persistence components using JPA/Hibernate and relational databases.
- Write efficient SQL queries and support enterprise database integration, including Teradata.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, Amazon Q Developer, ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, code analysis, and technical documentation.
- Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure correctness, security, performance, maintainability, and compliance with development standards.
- Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit 5 and appropriate frontend testing frameworks.
- Troubleshoot application, API, UI, integration, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established coding, security, quality, and development standards.
- Develop and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Support cloud-native application development and deployments using AWS and Docker.
- Collaborate with QA, DevSecOps, architects, business analysts, and other developers to deliver complete end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical discussions.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
- Strong hands-on experience with Angular and TypeScript.
- Experience developing microservices and REST APIs.
- Experience integrating Angular frontend applications with RESTful backend services.
- Experience with JPA/Hibernate and relational databases.
- Strong SQL development skills.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted software development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, Amazon Q Developer, ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable tools.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools for software development activities such as code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation, code analysis, or technical documentation.
- Ability to review and validate AI-generated code for quality, security, correctness, and maintainability.
- Experience with JUnit 5 or comparable testing frameworks.
- Experience with Maven and Git.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting federal government or healthcare technology programs.
- Experience working with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, or Program Integrity environments.
- Experience with AWS and Docker/containerized applications.

Work Environment
This position will work as part of a multidisciplinary technology team supporting the development and modernization of enterprise applications within the
CMS federal healthcare environment. The technology environment includes
Angular, Java 17, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, AWS, Docker, Teradata, JPA/Hibernate, automated testing, and cloud-native architecture.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
The posted range reflects the Sky's reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
