Software Engineer, Mobile

We're looking for a Software Engineer in the greater Salt Lake City area to join our team:

L2L has a new mobile app. It replaced a long-running legacy app in 2026 and is now in the hands of frontline workers across hundreds of sites, on both iOS and Android, from a single React Native and Expo codebase. A small team owns everything from the first line of TypeScript to the staged store rollout, and we're building automated verification and release systems that let that team ship at a pace normally reserved for much larger ones. You’d join at a stage where you can have a real impact on both the product and how the team builds and ships it.

Ship Mobile Apps Frontline Workers Trust: Build and release L2L mobile apps that operators, technicians, and supervisors use to raise, receive, and resolve problems on the shop floor, and keep it fast, stable, and reliable on real devices in real plants.

Own the Full Path to Production: Run a modern Expo and React Native pipeline for two platforms: native builds, staged store rollouts, over-the-air updates, and post-release monitoring, with the authority to change any of it.

Build How We Verify Software: Design and extend AI-assisted pipelines that he app on simulators, emulators, and physical devices, and check releases before a person does, so quality scales with the team rather than with headcount.

What You'll Do:

Mobile Product Engineering

• Build features in L2L mobile apps using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
• Own the hybrid experience where native screens meet the web platform: authentic, biometric login, deep links from QR codes on machines, and in-app browsing of the core product.
• Design for the factory floor: locked phones, patchy connectivity, shared device
• Write tests and end-to-end flows that run against simulators, emulators, and physical devices.

Notifications & Alerting

• Own notification reliability for iOS and Android, from device registration through to the alert arriving on a locked screen.
• Use error monitoring, device logs, and platform vitals to understand delivery behaviour in the field.
• Partner with backend engineers on the services that decide who gets alerted, and when.

Release Engineering & Quality

• Run the release train: app store builds, staged rollouts, over-the-air updates, and version and runtime compatibility across both platforms.
• Maintain CI pipelines and release tooling, and improve them when they slow the team down.
• Watch adoption and error rates after every release and act on what you see.

Engineering Systems & AI Verification

• Extend the tooling that lets coding agents drive the app on iOS simulators, Android emulators, and physical phones to reproduce reports, run end-to-end flows, and capture evidence.
• Build the pipeline that takes a change from pull request through automated verification to a staged release, and decide what a machine can sign off and what still needs a person.
• Turn crash reports, product analytics, and release health into inputs those systems act on, not dashboards someone has to remember to check.
• Use AI coding tools heavily in your own work, verify their output, and hold generated code to the same bar as your own. Rethink your workflow often and share what works.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Platform Contributions

Ship fixes and small features in the Python and Django backend and the Vue frontend when the right fix for a mobile problem lives there. Coordinate with web and backend teams on API changes that affect mobile users.

Voice of the User

Read session analytics and crash data to find where users struggle, and turn it into prioritised work. Join customer calls and pilot rollouts, and bring findings back to Product and Engineering. Write clear investigation notes, tickets, and release summaries so the whole team can follow the reasoning.
                                                                          

What We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping a production mobile or frontend application.
• Strong TypeScript, and working knowledge of React Native or React.
• Experience shipping a React Native or Expo app to both stores, or strong evidence you can pick it up fast.
• Interest in building developer tooling and automated testing infrastructure, not only using it. Experience with device automation, end-to-end frameworks, or agentic coding tools is a plus.
• Comfort working in a Python web backend and reading code you didn't write.
• Experience releasing to the Apple App Store and Google Play, including staged rollouts and monitoring after release.
• A track record of taking a vague report to a confirmed fix in production, and being able to explain how you knew it was fixed.
• Clear written communication in an asynchronous, distributed team.
• Experience with push notifications, hybrid WebView apps, authentication flows, or observability tooling such as Sentry is a plus.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial software, or frontline workforce technology is a plus.
