Software Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Software Engineer in Owego, New York for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role supports software development across the full lifecycle, including design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and standards compliance. The position is onsite during onboarding and transitions to a schedule of two days onsite per week afterward.

Required Skills

• DO-178C DAL A experience
• Experience planning, conducting, and coordinating software development activities
• Experience designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software
• Ability to develop software solutions to business and mission problems using computer programming languages
• Experience applying standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software and information processing techniques
• Ability to gather and apply information from system users to develop software solutions
• Ability to correct program errors and prepare operating instructions
• Experience compiling program development documentation
• Ability to analyze system capabilities and resolve questions related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
• Ability to ensure software standards are met

• Use system and user information to develop software that supports business and mission needs
• Correct program errors and prepare operating instructions
• Compile development documentation and support ongoing software maintenance
• Analyze system capabilities and resolve issues related to program intent, outputs, inputs, techniques, and controls
• Help ensure software products meet required standards and quality expectations
