The Precast Forte Group (Forte) develops, standardizes, and commercializes engineered precast concrete systems through a global network of licensed producers. Its three product lines, Recon Wall Systems (retaining walls), LPB (site lighting foundations), and EV Blocks (EV charging foundations), serve infrastructure, commercial, and municipal markets across North America and internationally. Forte is a lean company, by design, supporting a much larger footprint of partner companies and projects.

About This Role

\n

The Software Engineer, Platform & Integrations owns the applications, tools, integrations, and data infrastructure the company runs on, including the systems used directly by producers, contractors, and specifying engineers. The work spans custom software development and the configuration of commercial platforms in roughly equal measure. Deciding which of the two a given problem calls for is part of the role, not a decision handed down to it.

Our team is made up of specialists in our products and the markets we serve, including civil and mechanical engineers alongside people with deep industry and business development experience. The company runs on a working set of systems today, a mix of applications built in house, recently adopted platforms, and older tools approaching the end of their useful life. This role brings dedicated software and systems expertise to that environment and takes ownership of it going forward.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports and a high degree of autonomy. Projects are defined by business problem and outcome rather than by written specification, and the approach, architecture, and sequencing are set by this role. The technology stack is largely open, and selecting it is part of the job.

Candidates are evaluated on demonstrated technical ability. Work samples and a direct technical assessment are part of the hiring process.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• Design, build, and maintain web applications and tools used by staff and partner companies.
• \n
• Take ownership of existing internally built applications, and improve, extend, or rebuild them as warranted.
• \n
• Rebuild and modernize existing engineering calculation software.
• \n
• Integrate the company's business platforms into automated pipelines, including CRM, marketing, and third-party data sources.
• \n
• Build systems that make the company's technical documentation searchable and usable.
• \n
• Own architecture and technology selection, including decisions on what to build, what to configure, and what to buy.
• \n
• Work directly with engineering and market-facing staff to translate domain knowledge into working systems.
• \n
• Support and maintain all delivered systems and drive their adoption by internal and external users.
• \n
• Keep the technology stack current as platforms and tools change.
• \n
• Working practice with version control, testing, and repeatable deployment.

Required Qualifications

\n

• \n
• 5+ years building and shipping production software.
• \n
• A body of work you can show and discuss in depth, whether professional, independent, or open source.
• \n
• Full stack web application development.
• \n
• Experience deploying and operating web applications in production, including the hosting, monitoring, and maintenance that follows launch.
• \n
• API integration, automation, and data pipeline work across multiple third-party platforms.
• \n
• Demonstrated history of owning projects end to end, from problem definition through adoption and ongoing support.
• \n
• Ability to work productively without detailed specifications, close supervision, or an established process to follow.
• \n
• Sound judgment about when custom development is warranted and when an existing tool is the better answer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building software for a defined set of users rather than for a commercial product market.
• \n
• Experience delivering in a small organization while owning the full scope of a project.
• \n
• Experience working alongside engineers from other disciplines.
• \n
• Familiarity with construction, engineering, or manufacturing environments.

What Success Looks Like

\n

Success here is measured by adoption, not delivery. A system that launched and sits unused has not solved the problem it was built for. Strong work in this role means the people it was built for reach for it daily and the company would notice if it went away.

How We Work

\n

This is a small team (by design), which means broad scope, direct access to decision makers, and few layers between a decision and its result. Everyone here reports to the President. The tools built here are intended to extend what the existing team can do rather than to replace roles. Hiring decisions are based on demonstrated ability over credentials.
