Software Engineer

Piper Companies is hiring a Software Engineer for an enterprise technology organization located in Research Triangle Park, NC. The Software Engineer will support cloud-hosted applications, infrastructure, and automation initiatives for a critical production environment. The Software Engineer will work a contract engagement in a hybrid environment with a minimum onsite requirement of Thursdays in RTP.

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer:

• Support, monitor, and maintain cloud-hosted applications, services, and infrastructure across production and non-production environments
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Python applications, APIs, automation scripts, and operational tools
• Design and implement infrastructure automation and configuration management solutions using Ansible
• Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and deployment issues while performing root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Support CI/CD pipeline development, deployment automation, system upgrades, security remediation, and performance tuning activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the SDLC including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support

Requirements of the Software Engineer:

• 0-3 years of professional software engineering experience; entry-level candidates must have strong internship experience, personal projects, and a GitHub portfolio
• Must be a US Citizen
• Strong Python development experience including scripting and object-oriented programming
• Experience with cloud environments, Linux/Unix systems, Git, CI/CD processes, and SDLC methodologies
• Ansible experience is highly preferred; infrastructure automation experience is strongly desired
• Bachelor''s Degree in Computer Science required; Computer Engineering or Mathematics degrees will be considered based on technical qualifications

Compensation for the Software Engineer:

• $70,000-$85,000 annually, based on experience
