Overview

SOFTWARE ENGINEER (MID) (TCE)

Bowhead seeks a Mid Level Software Engineer to join our Tactical Communications and Electromagnetic Warfare (TCE) in Stafford, VA. The Software Engineer will provide systems engineering, software integration, and configuration management support for Tactical Communications and Electromagnetic Warfare (TCE) programs. The position supports engineering lifecycle activities including requirements management, technical documentation, software testing, risk management, and configuration control within a DoD acquisition environment.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, requirements traceability, and technical baseline management.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Systems Requirements Documents (SRDs), Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and related technical documentation.
  • Support engineering review events including SETRs, Technical Readiness Assessments (TRAs), Operational Test Readiness Reviews (OTRRs), and configuration review boards.
  • Analyze user requirements and support alignment of system specifications with approved Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
  • Support software and system Configuration Management (CM) activities in accordance with approved Configuration Management Plans.
  • Participate in configuration control boards, engineering review boards, and change management activities.
  • Draft and maintain Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), configuration documentation, and technical baselines.
  • Utilize configuration management and issue tracking tools such as Jira, CMPRO, or similar platforms.
  • Support engineering risk management activities including identification, tracking, mitigation planning, and reporting.
  • Assist with Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) updates, engineering milestone tracking, and schedule analysis activities.
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical engineering documentation, acquisition artifacts, test documentation, and configuration management records in accordance with Government standards and program requirements.
  • Support system integration, test planning, and post-test analysis activities for PM TCE systems and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
  • Six or more (6+) years of professional experience.
  • Experience performing software regression testing, including writing and executing test cases.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in testing and validation.
  • Experience supporting DoD acquisition programs, systems engineering activities, or Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) environments is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Defense Acquisition Framework, systems engineering lifecycle processes, and engineering technical review events are desired.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
