Conferred Transcripts with a Graduation Date: Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
The Software Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing applications for websites and mobile devices. Collaborates with District offices to define pertinent specifications for mobile and website applications. Specifies the required logical interface needed to display applications on the web and mobile applications. Communicates and works effectively at the team level.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Consults with Software Architect on different platform designs.
Coordinates the delivery, design, build, deploy, test, release to application stores and support across the entire application life cycle concept.
Works directly with developers, designers, and users to conceptualize, build, test and realize products with a focus on usability features.
Gathers requirements around functionality and translates those requirements into functional solutions via prototypes.
Collaborates with the web developers to create and maintain a robust framework to support the applications.
Creates compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences.
Standardizes the platform and in some cases applications to deliver across multiple brands with minimal duplication of effort.
Develops and optimizes performance for the applications on iOS and Android devices.
Analyzes, upgrades, and rewrites legacy applications to newer technologies for the use in web and mobile platforms.
Keeps up to date on the latest trends on mobile technologies.
Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors. May be required to work at an alternate location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field; or an equivalent combination of education.
Three (3) years' work experience performing complex application development using HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, .Net VB, C#, SQL, Stored Procedures, XML, Ajax, Web Services, and Active Directory.
One (1) year of experience in development for iOS and Android, preferred.
Knowledge of web and mobile application development and operating systems.
Basic knowledge of iOS SDK and iOS devices and Android SDK and Android devices.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
