Software Engineer (Tier 3) Remote Contract

Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months, with strong potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP

Role Summary
Software Engineer responsible for building new functionality, resolving escalated defects, and maintaining integrations that move loan data across systems.

Tech Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, React, tRPC, Prisma/MongoDB, Redis/BullMQ, NextAuth

Responsibilities

• Design and build new features end to end, from requirements through release
• Resolve defects escalated from Tier 2 support
• Maintain critical third-party integrations (loan origination, credit, property valuation, banking, payoff services)
• Trace production issues using logs and monitoring tools; resolve root causes, not just symptoms
• Review code and keep documentation current

Required Qualifications

• Strong TypeScript, React, and Next.js experience across the full stack
• Proven experience delivering features end to end (design testing release)
• Hands-on MongoDB experience with Prisma or a comparable ORM
• Experience maintaining third-party API integrations (token auth, webhooks, failure handling)
• Ability to quickly ramp up in a large, unfamiliar codebase
• Strong written and verbal communication, including root-cause analysis and explaining technical issues clearly

Nice to Have

• Experience with type-safe API frameworks (tRPC or similar)
• Redis-backed background job/queue experience (BullMQ or similar)
• Session-based authentication experience (NextAuth or comparable), including MFA flows
• .NET experience
• Mortgage or lending industry experience

Must-Haves: Next.js, React, TypeScript, MongoDB, and integration experience
