Software Engineering Manager

The Opportunity:CACI is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in support of the Data Transport Product Support Sustainment Logistics Maintenance (DSLM) contract, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. You will lead and grow a team of software engineers, test engineers, and product owners in support of our various mission and non-mission systems in support of the Satellite Control Network (SCN), as well as act as the Scrum Master. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering team development, and delivering high-quality software solutions that align with business objectives. This position requires a proven track record of managing software engineering teams, balancing technical and business priorities, and creating an environment where engineers thrive.

Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Management:

•     Lead, mentor, and develop a software sustainment team Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
•     Manage performance reviews, goal setting, and career development plansFoster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
•     Handle hiring, onboarding, and team capacity planningAddress performance issues and provide constructive guidance
•     Promote continuous learning and professional growth within the teamBuild team morale and engagement through recognition and support
•     Make strategic technical decisions that balance innovation with maintainabilityDrive adoption of engineering best practices and coding standards
•     Participate in technical discussions and problem-solving sessionsEnsure technical debt is managed and addressed appropriately
•     Champion quality, security, and performance standards

Project & Delivery Management:Coordinate with and support Product Owners:

•     Plan and coordinate software development projects and sprint activities in coordination with Product OwnerDefine project scope, timelines, and resource allocation
•     Monitor project progress and remove blockers to ensure timely deliveryBalance competing priorities and manage stakeholder expectations
•     Drive agile/scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiativesEnsure delivery commitments are met with high quality standards
•     Implement risk mitigation strategies for project dependenciesCoordinate cross-team collaboration and dependencies

Strategic Planning & Execution:

•     Collaborate with product management to define roadmaps and prioritiesContribute to department-level planning and strategy
•     Identify opportunities for process and technology improvementsSupport estimation and capacity planning 

Communication & Collaboration:

•     Communicate project status, risks, and achievements to leadershipCollaborate with peer managers and cross-functional teams
•     Facilitate knowledge sharing within and across teamsPresent technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
•     Advocate for team needs and represent team interests in organizational decisions

Operational Excellence:Implement and improve development processes and workflows

•     Ensure proper documentation of systems, processes, and decisionsManage on-call rotations and incident response procedures
•     Drive automation Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

Required: 

•     US Citizen with DoD Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field and 3 + years experience or combination.
•     Experience working on a software development team as a developer, analyst, tester, or scripterExperience with Agile Methodology
•     Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Desired:

•     Experience on DoD programs and interaction with government stakeholders - SCN experience is a plus Scrum Master/Team Coach certification 
•     Experience creating and managing software release schedulesExperience with budgeting and forecasting
•     Ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams, including coaching and mentoring team membersExperience using the following COTS tools: JIRA, Git, SharePoint, FortifyOther Agile Certifications (software development oriented)-
