As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC's Data & Automation organization, you will be based in Strongsville, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL or Denver, CO.
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Data and Automation group. This role is responsible for delivering strategic technology initiatives that enhance the bank’s data ecosystem, automate critical business processes, and modernize enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership, technical expertise, and delivery management skills to drive high-performing teams and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 15 technology professionals, consisting of both full-time employees and contractors.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance management activities, career development planning, coaching, and succession planning.
• Partner with recruiting and vendor management teams to attract, onboard, and retain top talent.
• Establish clear goals, priorities, and expectations aligned with organizational objectives.
Delivery & Execution
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of Change the Bank initiatives across data, analytics, and automation platforms.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and cross-functional technology teams to define and execute project roadmaps.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Drive Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
• Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and technical challenges throughout the software development lifecycle.
Technical Leadership
• Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for enterprise data integration, data management, and automation solutions.
• Guide solution design, architecture reviews, and technology modernization efforts.
• Support the development and maintenance of scalable, secure, and reliable platforms that process large volumes of enterprise data.
• Promote engineering best practices including code quality, testing, automation, observability, and operational excellence.
Technology Environment
The team leverages a broad range of technologies, including:
• Informatica
• Teradata
• Linux
• Mainframe technologies
• Hadoop
• Apache Spark
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP experience preferred)
Qualifications
• Experience managing mixed teams of employees and contractors.
• Strong understanding of data engineering, ETL processes, data warehousing, and enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on experience or leadership oversight involving Informatica, Teradata, Linux, Mainframe, Hadoop, Spark, and Cloud technologies.
• Experience delivering large-scale enterprise technology projects in a regulated environment.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Qualifications
• Experience within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and information security principles.
• Experience leading cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms.

Base Salary: $100,100.00 – $204,490.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
Generally, this opening is expected to be posted for two business days from 07/15/2026, although it may be longer with business discretion.
