Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with Computer Vision (e.g., image classification and processing, object detection, visual search), video generation, or signal processing; and experience with various algorithms and design techniques.
  • 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in software development, programming in C, C++, script, or Android programming.
  • Experience in AI/ML development, signal processing, micro-controller selection and various digital communication protocols and interfaces (e.g., GPIO, SPI, I2C and UART).
  • Experience in sensor core architecture with demonstrated skills in implementing sensor fusion algorithms.
  • Understanding and applying principles of software development and key concepts in computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of estimation theory (e.g., Kalman Filters, EKF, etc.), hardware performance monitors, and profiling.

In this role, you will lead a specialized team of Software Engineers who operate at the intersection of Hardware, Software, and Artificial Intelligence.Your team’s mission is to efficiently develop innovative Pixel experiences by leveraging the variety of sensor signals available on the device. This is a pivotal leadership role that requires deep skills in real-time embedded software development together with expertise in algorithms (e.g., Heuristics and AI) to build exciting features leveraging sensor data in a power-friendly manner.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Apply extensive experience in hardware, AI, and software technologies relevant to the mobile phone form factor.
  • Diagnose and debug hardware and software issues to ensure system stability.
  • Employ creative and critical thinking to troubleshoot complex problems and communicate findings effectively.
  • Utilize OS tools and UNIX/Linux internal knowledge to deliver high-quality end-user products.
  • Develop testing and verification methods that ensure an efficient and consistent development rhythm. Architect and build sensor fusion algorithms (e.g., Heuristic and Machine Learning) for optical and motion technologies.
